Introducing ALES, the Akihabara Level Editor & Sharer

by Darius Kazemi on December 16th, 2010

Hi folks! Boston Game Jams is proud to announce the release of the Akihabara Level Editor and Sharer, or ALES (pronounced “Alice”). It’s an HTML5 tile-based level editor for an Akihabara-based platformer that lets you play while you edit and share your levels with your friends.

Try playing some levels we made. Collect all the stars in each level!

Click the “make more levels like this one” link in each of those pages to edit the level. Or just dive right in to the editor!

If you’re impressed with this tool and want to help make more stuff like it (or improve on ALES itself), consider attending the HTML Tools Jam, January 8th and 9th. It’ll be held in the Boston area, but anyone with an internet connection can participate.

For more info, check out the official jam page here. You can RSVP here, and stay tuned to this blog for more info!

Neat idea! The stage elements works very well together. Impressed by ‘The Clock is Ticking’. There is a fat margin of flexibility!

Hrm these don’t seem to be working in Chrome 10. :( They work fine in FF4 on my computer but are just a black screen in Chrome.

I’ll be using ALES though, but probably just as a level editor (not a level sharer.)
